Health, Safety and Welfare Legislation
Swisher Hygiene provides a range of disposal services in accordance with the
Environmental Protection Act 1990.
This act places a legal "Duty of Care", upon you and your organisation, to ensure that all waste produced on your premises is correctly managed right up to the point of final disposal.
If you allow someone else to dispose of your waste, you must be sure they are authorised to take it and can transport, recycle or dispose of it safely.
Violation of the Duty of Care is a criminal offence, punishable by a fine of up to £2000 on summary conviction, or an unlimited fine on conviction or indictment.
The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992
These regulations place a legal requirement on employers to provide appropriate facilities for their employees at the place of work:
Sanitary Waste Disposal
Regulation 21 of the Approved Code of Practice, in the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992, states that :
"in the case of water closets used by women, suitable means should be provided for the disposal of sanitary dressings"
This Regulation is further supported by the Water Industries Act 1991, which states that no items should be flushed down the toilet that could cause a blockage within drain or sewer.

The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992, state that suitable
