SaniGenics™ - The Swisher Difference
SaniGenics™
- When we say that we effectively combat the microscopic threats in your facilities, you don’t have to take our word for it. Instead, you can trust the empirical evidence we provide.
- Only Swisher validates its service through the use of a luminometer, an advanced detection device that measures telltale signs of the presence of bacteria on restroom surfaces.
- Luminometers are standard tools in the scientific community and common measurement devices for municipal health departments.
- We routinely test facilities before and after service to ensure that our treatments generate the results you expect and deserve.
The SaniGenics™ Solution
SaniGenics™ is an integrated solution that starts with Swisher’s Luminalysis a state-of-the-art microbial threat assessment – and continues with a set of reactive and proactive hygiene procedures designed to reduce existing contamination and prevent it from recurring in the future. It’s a three step process that is tailored specifically to each customer by industry and degree of need:
- LUMINALYSIS
SaniGenics begins with a thorough evaluation of your facility’s likely sources of contamination, shedding light on just how much organic residue – and the germs it harbours – is present. Our Sanilyzer Portable Detection System delivers a high-speed, high-accuracy reading that details where your greatest threats are, so we can craft a plan that effectively addresses your specific hygiene needs.
- INTERCEPTION
Once Luminalysis has been performed, our trained expert technicians follow proprietary manual treatment procedures that ensure no potential source of infection is overlooked, and we match that with the disinfecting power of Swisher Seal, our clinically proven, hospital-grade germicide. Then we validate our programmes effectiveness with a second Luminalysis that clearly and unequivocally demonstrates the degree to which your surfaces have been sanitised.
- CONTAINMENT
With your critical areas now under control, you can begin a program of Microbe-Management that is designed to keep your contaminant counts low. A well-executed, ongoing hygiene programme is your first line of defence against high absenteeism, poor work performance, customer dissatisfaction and potential litigation.
Typical actions include:
• Weekly manual hygiene service from our expert technicians
• Weekly treatment with Swisher Clean, our hospital-grade germicide
• Germicidal misting of contamination-prone areas
• Implementation of a cross-contamination-protected paper programme
• Installation of touch-free systems
• Upgrade of soap dispensing units to hands-free models
• Monthly or bi-monthly full-facility detailing with our Swisher Total Image system
• Placement of clearly marked hygiene-promoting signage
• Quarterly Luminalysis to ensure consistent protection and highlight potential hot spots

ABOUT ATP
The measurement of Adenosine triphosphate – ATP for short – is a widely accepted gauge of microbial contamination, used by health departments and foodservice inspectors across North America.
ATP readings are so consistently relied upon because they offer quantifiable results that can be weighed from one facility to the next, one day to the next. The higher the reading, the higher the presence of organic residue – and that means a greater likelihood of contamination.
Understanding how to interpret ATP readings is just as important as the readings themselves. Because all living things produce ATP, the number generated by Swisher’s Luminalysis indicates the presence of both harmless and potentially harmful substances. Just how much of the reading represents actual microbial contamination will vary based on the facility being tested.
In general, however, a minimum of 20% to 30% of the reading is understood to represent potentially pathogenic contamination – and in most cases, the actual percentage is significantly higher.
Under these guidelines, Luminalysis scores are commonly interpreted as follows:

In addition to the raw score, an equally valuable measurement is the ongoing tracking of ATP levels that’s part of our Microbe Management programme.
Facilities that show a dramatic reduction in ATP counts should be less likely sources of contamination than those with ongoing high readings, and new hot spots can be identified and contained before their readings become critical.
